Henry Medical Center recently celebrated National Nurses Week. During the celebration, winners of Nurses of the Unit and Nurse of the Year awards were announced.

Nurses were nominated by co-workers. Some of the criteria included good attitude, great service, innovation, teamwork, quality and living for the customer. The Nurse of the Year had to meet all of the above plus possess the following nursing qualities of caring and empathy, respect for confidentiality, critical thinking skills, work well with others, respect for co-workers, good communication skills, problem solving skills and have a professional appearance.

The Nurse of the Year award went to Sonia Bryan, 3rd floor. HMC’s Nurses of the Units included Linda Puckett, Henry Healthcare McDonough; Laurie Burnley, Emergency Department; Gina Teague, Ambulatory Care; Valencia Johnson, Labor & Delivery; Tammy Turner, OB/GYN; Pippi Jester, 2-South; Jo Middlebrooks, Quality Management; Doris McCollum, Surgery; Roxie Plemons, Nursery; Sharon Okoduwa, Patient Access Unit/Observation; Marichel Gaite, PACU; Karen Taylor, CCU; Penny Conner, Education Center; Kim Oglesby, Case Management; Katie Mote, 3rd Floor; Gloria McMillon, 4th Floor; and Denise Fogle, Henry Healthcare Eagle Spring.
