  • Intense, prolonged chest pain?
  • A feeling of heaviness or pressure on the chest?
  • Nausea or vomiting?
  • A feeling of severe indigestion?
  • Pain in the jaw or in a tooth?

The answer is all of the above. A heart attack can be indicated by any of these signs and symptoms. Other symptoms to be aware of include: shortness of breath; intense, unexplained sweating and weakness; restlessness and anxiety; and pain radiating to your shoulders and arms, especially on the left side of your body, or to the back, jaw and neck.

Of course, not every instance of nausea, tooth pain or weakness means you’re having a heart attack, but if you feel there’s a cause for concern, get prompt medical help by calling 911 or your local emergency medical service. If you experience any unexplained sharp or persistent pain in your chest, seek medical attention immediately.
