There’s been a significant increase in people using the web to gather health information. In fact, from 2002 to 2005, there was a rise of 54% in the number of adults who said the internet played a major role as they helped another person cope with a major illness. The number of those who said the internet played a major role as they coped themselves with a major illness increased 40%.

This information was gathered by the Pew Internet and American Life Project by fielding the Major Moments Survey taken in March 2005 and comparing it with an earlier survey done in January 2002. For more details, visit www.pewinternet.org.
